Cafe Luc is a joint venture between Julie van Oostende and her father, a Belgian restaurateur Luc van Oostende after whom the restaurant is named. The beautifully renovated Victorian property, located in the heart of Marylebone is a modern European brasserie designed to appeal to the areas local community, shoppers, tourists and professionals. Cafe Luc is a vibrant, friendly dining room and bar open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch afternoon tea and dinner.

Inspired by the grand cafés of Europe, Café Luc’s a la carte menu includes starters priced from £6.30 with classics such as ‘Steak tartare a la minute’, ‘Orkney baked scallops with young leeks and Alsace bacon’, and ‘Tartine of marinated Provencal vegetables’. Main courses priced from £11.50 will feature ‘Braised lamb shoulder, borlotti beans, young fennel and rosemary jus’, ‘Confit duck des Landes, summer cabbage and spicy jus’ and ‘Grilled filet of Dover sole with new potatoes and spinach’. Highlights from the dessert menu will include ‘Homemade salted caramel with vanilla and speculoos ice cream’and ‘Roasted pineapple with coconut sorbet and pistachio’. An affordable express lunch and early evening set menu and weekend brunch will also be offered.

Both English and continental breakfasts will be served from 7am, alongside juices, teas and coffees. Highlights include ‘Warm quinoa with banana and sultana’and ‘Omelette with Gruyere and forest ham’. Afternoon tea selections will range from old-fashioned traditional English to more contemporary Parisian patisserie, finger sandwiches and cookies and milk. The tea served will be from elegant Parisian teahouse Mariage Freres.

The extensive wine list will be predominantly European, with a short section of new world varieties.

The bar area at the front of the room will serve a selection of classic cocktails, wines and Champagnes by the glass. Highlights from the bar food menu will include a ‘Mini cheeseburger ‘Le Royal’ with coleslaw and chips’, ‘Fiore de zucchini with yoghurt vinaigrette’, and plates of ‘cured meats or cheeses’ from La Fromagerie.

The architectural design is by Stiff and Trevillion, whose projects include Jamie’s Italian and Le Café Anglais. A dark hardwood floor, waxed Celadon coloured walls with bronze angle trims, leather banquettes and discreet mirrors set up the room. The bar is faced in patinated copper and crowned with a backlit screen of hand blown glass globes. The chairs are a replica of the original chairs from the Lido in Paris, a subtle bentwood and leather classic. The loos are stocked with product by French perfumery Diptyque.
