  9. Churros Garcia

    What we do:

We make stonkingly good fresh churros served the traditional Spanish way – sprinkled with sugar and a cup of hot Valor dipping chocolate (cinnamon available as well). Recommended for breakfast, afternoon snack or as a hangover cure. Olé

    Who we are:

We are a small family business that started approx. forty years ago when my mum, Encarnacion Garcia Fuenteseca, left the Spanish convent, where she was a nun (yes, really!) and bought her first churros oven. From then on the whole process of preparation and cooking churros became part of our family tradition, bringing it to the UK when we moved here. I took over when my parents retired and am very excited to be part of the "Churros revolution" in the UK.

Good quality churros are extremely difficult to make, even though the recipe appears simple. We follow tradition and hand-mix our dough and only cook churros on demand so that they are always fresh, hot and fabulous.

    Word of advice:

    How to spot good churros
Despite being deep fried in oil, churros should never be greasy. They should be crisp and have a lovely golden-brown color. They should be crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This pastry can be enjoyed any time of the day as long as it is made fresh.

Best comment from a customer: Hot and covered in chocolate? What more could you want? Can I take you home?

    Top seller:

    Churros & Chocolate!

    How eco we are?:

We serve our churros in recyclable/biodegradable packaging, we hand-mix our dough, use minimum electricity and can even manage without and we recycle our waste.

    Favorite part of the job:

Definitely chatting to the customers about churros, their world, the weather and seeing their happy faces when they munch on their churros fix.

    Worst part of the job:

Packing up in a pouring rain after a 20 hour shift.

Churros Garcia are also kindly donating 5 x portions of delicious churros

  31. Luc and Lucy's Cupcakes

The  ingredients which put start to  Luc & Lucy’s Cupcakes  were  one too many visits to New York and a  girly heat to heart  which let slip that no amount of Ryvita and Sashimi could make you as happy as a mouthful of cake, after all.  So we decided,  that while there may or may not be free lunches, you can definitely still   have your cake and eat it - as long as it’s a cupcake, at any rate ( please note:  high quality ingredients and imagination is a must!).

Thousands of swirls later a customer’s  e-mail made our day ‘...Eating your cupcake is like biting into a yummy, sweet but not too sweet, cloud...’

All cupcake  fans are welcome at Luc & Lucy’s stall at Marylebone’s  ’10 Summer fare ,- if you plan to treat yourself, it might as well be with Luc & Lucy’s cupcake!
