The Howard de Walden Estate has been running the annual Marylebone Village Summer Fayre for five years now. It works as a celebration of all that’s great about Marylebone – bustling market stalls, fantastic retailers, top quality entertainment, some of the best food and drink in London, and lashings of community spirit. And as Marylebone has developed and its profile has grown, so too has the scale and ambition of the summer fayre. What was once a low key afternoon has become a hugely popular event. This year’s is set to be the biggest and best yet.
As well as being a celebration, the summer fayre also offers an opportunity to raise money for a seriously good cause. Teenage Cancer Trust has been the recipient of your generosity for several years now, but this year we’re really pulling out the stops to bolster the profile and the bank balance of this most worthy of causes. To do so, we’ve turned the whole of Paddington Street Gardens over to TCT to host a festival of live music and al fresco eating. Think Live Aid, but on a slightly more manageable scale – the emphasis being on civilised picnics and up-and-coming talent rather than vast crowds and global superstars.
You can help TCT just by buying a programme. These beautifully produced guides to everything that’s happening on Sunday 15th June, including detailed maps and running times, will be available from a selection of Marylebone high street retailers two weeks before the event (retailers soon to be announced), or on the day at a number of different spots around the site. Programmes cost just £2 and proceeds go to TCT.
