What’s new at The Ivy Marylebone

We spoke with Michael Blaney, General Manager at The Ivy Café Marylebone to find out all the latest news at the restaurant.

We are glad to see you are back open in Marylebone Lane. How have you adapted the restaurant to open safely during Covid 19?

The safety of our guests and staff is paramount and we have gone above and beyond to ensure this. We have had thermal cameras for temperature checks installed at our entrance and we use tracking software for all our employees which log daily temperature readings over a seven-day rolling period. The restaurant is deep cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis and we also have dedicated team members who have also been appointed to ensure that health and safety is at its highest standard on an on-going basis. We have adapted our seating plans to ensure that all tables are socially distanced in line with Government guidelines.

If someone visits The Ivy Marylebone for the first time, what food and drink would you recommend?

We offer an array of delicious dishes, wines and cocktails that perfectly compliment each other. One of our favourites would have to be The Ivy shepherd’s pie which is especially delicious when paired with a Pinot Noir, Spy Valley. If you have a sweet tooth, I’d have to recommend our iconic Chocolate Bombe which is sure to put a smile on your face.

Where does the chef get inspiration for the menus?

Our food offering is classic British cuisine with a modern, international twist. We also update our menus seasonally so we get the best produce available.

What is the most popular cocktail at The Ivy Marylebone?

It would have to be The Ivy Royal, if you are looking for a drink to toast a celebration or simply fancy something a little different this is the drink for you. Made with rose vermouth and Beefeater Gin, and topped with Ivy Champagne, The Ivy Royal pays homage to our heritage making it a firm favourite.

You have The Rose Garden cocktails menu available until the 30th September - do you have a limited edition cocktail menu every month? Where did the inspiration for this latest cocktail menu come from?

We are very excited to have these wonderfully colourful cocktails available throughout the month of September and are looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors into the restaurant to try them! We have teamed up with Marylebone Gin to create the special menu of limited-edition items, all of which are inspired by ‘The Queen Mary Rose Garden’ in Regents Park, just like our installation. We also offer over 10 mouth-watering cocktails on our drinks menu that are available throughout the year.

You’ve always had an amazing restaurant front. At the moment, it is a beautiful rose garden installation. Why have you chosen to do this? What inspired it? Who designed it?

It was designed by Early Hours London, an award winning floral design studio who we have a very close relationship with. The installation was inspired by neighbouring Regent’s Park, home to ‘The Queen Mary Rose Garden.’ We like to celebrate the local area and our community whenever possible.

What’s the next installation coming to The Ivy?

Ah, now that would be telling – watch this space! Surprise and delight is a huge element of what we do!

Can you tell us a fun fact about The Ivy Marylebone?

One of my favourite facts is we sell between 450 and 550 cocktails per week alone.
