Marylebone in Conversation: WNU

Q&A with Pip Durell, founder and CEO of With Nothing Underneath.

Tell us about With Nothing Underneath and what makes it unique?

We started with one product: the shirt. For seven years, we remained a monobrand - refining, perfecting and expanding our shirt collection. In 2024 we took our first step beyond, launching our tailored trousers. Now, as we prepare to launch our full SS26 collection, I’m incredibly proud that we are introducing full wardrobe pieces designed to be styled together. Still, I truly believe that dedicating those early years to perfecting the shirt was so important for establishing ourselves as the go-to brand for women’s shirting.

What do you love most about Marylebone Village and what makes it a great location for your latest store opening?

I love the feeling of community in Marylebone Village. You're a stone's throw from busy Oxford Street, yet here it is relaxed. The street has a real charm and I am so glad WNU is now part of it. Plus, we are sandwiched between the best coffee shop and mine and my daughter's all time favourite bookstore!

Which women have inspired you throughout your life?

My first bosses at Vogue really inspired me, working for the likes of Lucinda Chambers and Sarah Harris who showed me that kindness in an industry starts at the top. I feel lucky to have worked as their assistant, and instilling that same culture within my own business is something I prioritise today.

What has been your proudest achievement in your career or for WNU?

A personal achievement was landing the job as Jewellery Editor at Tatler when I was 25. It was a crazy but fun time! For WNU as a brand, opening our first bricks and mortar store in 2022 was a very proud achievement - a real 'okay this is really happening' moment. And now here we are in Marylebone Village, having just opened store number four.

What does International Women's Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day has grown exponentially over the years and there is so much to celebrate. From those I work with to my best friends, mum group and mentors, I am lucky to be surrounded by people who inspire and support me every day. As a female founder and a mum, I love to see and support women who drive change for women all over the world. I'd love to use this moment to call out Peanut, founded by Michelle Kennedy, and their amazing campaign around the education of matrescence (which you can read more about here!)
